Execution & Layering: The Dance of the Can
This is where the raw energy comes to life. The execution phase is a symphony of motion, precision, and instinct. Our artists utilize a diverse range of techniques: controlled fills for background colors, clean outlines to define shapes, intricate detailing with specialized caps, and blending techniques to achieve smooth gradients. We work in layers, building depth and complexity. Background elements are laid down first, followed by mid-tones, then the central figures or typography (the 'piece'), and finally, the intricate highlights and shadows that bring the artwork to life.
Can control is paramount, manipulating pressure, distance, and angle to achieve desired effects – from hazy fades to sharp, geometric lines. The kinetic accents of electric magenta and vivid cyan often make their appearance here, used for highlights, energy trails, or to create a dynamic sense of movement within the piece. It’s a physically demanding process, requiring endurance, focus, and an intuitive understanding of how paint behaves on various surfaces. Each session is a performance, a transient moment of creation unfolding in public space.
